The annual ULI Competition for 2024 required teams of four to produce a theoretical plan to revitilize a section of downtown Seattle - where multiple government buildings are up for redevelopment. With my team mates Brittany Jeffery and Bharat Kumar Satish, we decided upon the details of the site plan which I took the responsibility of designing. The winners of the 2024 ULI Student Competition can be seen here.
Tasked with creating an academic plan to address the epidemic of homelessness and mental illness in New York City, I designed a master plan to redevelop the grounds of the former Creedmoor State Hospital - now Creedmoor Psychiatric Hospital. Working alongside my project team of Minda Arrow and Nicole Blanco who focused on policy initiatives, I illustrated how these policy changes could be implemented through adaptive reuse of the campus.
I worked with the Friends of FDR Park to create a comprehensive map of the walking, biking, and hiking trails at the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, where parks became lifelines for people. At this period, an adjacent golf course had shuttered and been absorbed into FDR Park, requiring a first time field mapping of trails that would become "The Meadows". Spending a lot of my time in FDR Park in South Philadelphia befroehand, the park then became one of my favorites in the city.
Moving to Philadelphia in 2018, I spent four years working alongside with multiple community organizations while completing my undergrad degree in Community Development at Temple University. These projects frequently included mapping to better understand the context of the many interesting neighborhoods including: North Philadelphia, Spring Garden and Passyunk Square.
Across the river from Philadelphia: Camden, New Jersey is a unique city with a layered history. In a report focusing on housing supply, I looked at Camden to attempt to understand the reason for the city's continued stagnantion when similar cities within major metropolitan regions such as Jersey City and Oakland have rebounded.
To finish off my undergrad degree, me and my fellow classmates came together with the nonprofit Asociación Puertorriqueños en Marcha (APM) to design guided ours to explore three different major corridors in North Philadelphia that hold a historical and modern importance. With much of the history either demolished or obscured, this tour was meant to highlight the great cultural center that is North Philadelphia while uplifiting the community that carries on its legacy. The Explore Eastern North Tours can be seen in greater detail here.
